SEBRING, May 13, 2008Redbelt is a little gem of a film by director David Mamet. It is about living a principled life in a world full of deception and greed. It raises the stark question: Can it be done?

The high ideals of Jiu-jitsu master Mike Terry (Chiwetel Ejiofor) are put to the test. Facing financial ruin, he tries to profit from his knowledge of the martial arts in a clean way by lending his expertise to a war movie. He soon find himself gutted for his knowledge and tossed away without a penny. Even the martial arts he loves prove to be far less honorable when exercised in the arena of competition. Terry must decide whether to hold on to whose ideals or to abandon any sense that ideals have meaning in a corrupt world.

Redbelt features a strong supporting cast, most notably Tim Allen as an aging star and Emily Mortimer as a neurotic attorney fighting rape trauma.

Since the Carmike Cinema is getting four prints of the Chronicles of Narnia Prince Caspian, Redbelt is set to exit Friday after just one week, so you have to get in quickly to catch it. If you like intelligent drama, Redbelt will satisfy.

Redbelt is rated R and plays at the Carmike Cinema 8.
